WM6 Slim Projector Mobile Phones

Texas Instruments may have made a working prototype, but in style terms it’s nowhere near as attractive as designer Stefano Casanova’s WM6 concept. A candybar format with a nifty swiveling screen that hides a dinky projector assembly, it’s super-slim and would seemingly have a touch-sensitive display since it lacks context buttons.

GM5000 James Bond Mobile Phones

General Mobile is clearly having a good ol' time here at CeBIT. Its already given us the "World's first Double-SIM mobile with Windows Mobile" and now it's adding to its 'world's first claims' with the GM500 - the so called "smallest mobile phone in the world".

General Mobile GM500Pictured above, this Bluetooth packing watch-phone features a touch screen that would make James Bond want to send his customised Omega back to Q-Branch. As you'd expect, it's a little bit tricky to press the buttons on the tiny 1.5" screen, but that doesn't bother us, it's not every day you get to boast a watch-phone.

Here it is, next to my Ellesse watch. Granted, it's bigger than your everyday watch but hey, your watch can't call your mates now can it?

General Mobile GM500The GM500 packs a 1.5" OLED screen, 128MBs of internal memory and both GPRS and WAP. General Mobile, the caring souls that they are, realise that users won't be wanting to keep their wrists up against their ears to listen to calls and provide a Bluetooth headset as part of the bundle. The GM500 is expected to hit the market in Autumn 2009, unfortunately for you Bond fans, it won't be coming to the UK.

The unlocked (by Apple) black backed 3G iPhones have 400 small brilliant cut diamonds set into the steel bezel surrounding the front screen.

Nokia Aeon mobile Phones

Designed to highlight the company's focus on products that allow users to more readily stamp their personality on their gadgets.

The concept phone, dubbed Aeon, combines two touch-sensitive panels mounted on a fuel-cell power pack. The handset's connectivity and electronics are built into the panels to allow them to be used independendently. When assembled, one panel would operate as the display, the other as the keypad. Since the buttons are entirely virtual, Aeon can flip instantly between a numeric pad for dialling, a text-entry pad for messaging, or a media-player controller.

It's a cute idea and one that ties in with Nokia's expectation that phones will become essentially "wearable" devices - if foresees users removing one of Aeon's display panels and mounting it on a watch-like strap or worn as a badge.

Aeon might tap into local wireless networks to transmit data acquired from sensors such as devices that monitor the user's health signs - which is the kind of application the company has in mind for its Wibree personal-area network technology.

Samsung SGH -X830 Mobile Phones

The Samsung X830's design is certainly very special. When taking the mobile phone in your hands for the first time, you'd think it was an MP3 player. The front of the telephone contains a jog dial for scrolling through the menu and in the centre a confirmation button is placed. To the left side of the telephone, you'll find the connection for the head set and some silver coloured volume buttons. The right side of the telephone contains the buttons with which you can operate the inbuilt digital camera. The Samsung X830 has a so-called swivel design; you have to swivel it to open it. It is very beautiful but I do get the feeling that the swivel is placed on the wrong side of the telephone. It simply doesn't feel right to open it the way it opens now.

E61 Nokia Mobile Phones

Think 'mobile e-mail' and you probably think 'BlackBerry', especially if you happen to be thinking about mobile e-mail in a corporate setting. But Nokia might be about to change all that, with its E series handsets.

There are four devices in the series at the moment, and the one that is causing the most stir is the E61, because it is the one that looks most like a BlackBerry handset.

Based around Symbian Series 60 third edition, there isn't a lot that this handset can't do right out of the box. Wi-Fi and infra-red are here, in addition to Bluetooth. The handset is 3G as well as quad-band GSM. The 64MB of built-in memory can be boosted with miniSD cards. And the built-in software includes e-mail, MMS, SMS, calendar, contacts and tasks manager, Web browser, music player, picture viewer, and viewers and editors for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Yes, that's right, you can create PowerPoint presentations on the E61, though without all the fancy features of the desktop version. There's even a utility that can send these presentations to a projector, should you need to do that.
